Milestones
1. At the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation held in Beijing, Chinese President Hu Jintao announced that China would undertake eight measures to forge a new type of China-Africa strategic partnership, strengthening bilateral cooperation in more areas and at a higher level. Among them, the third measure was to establish a unique China-Africa Development Fund, which will eventually reach USD$ 5 billion, to encourage and support Chinese enterprises  investing in South Africa and other African Countries
2. The Chinese government officially approved the establishment of the China-Africa Development Fund (“The CADFund SA”), with the first-phase USD$1 Billion funding provided by the China Development Bank.
3. The China-Africa Development Fund held a special ceremony to introduce the Fund to approximately 70 domestic enterprises with China Development Bank Vice Governor, Mr. Gao Jian, addressing the invitees.
4. The China-Africa Development Fund was officially registered and founded with USD$1 Billion.
5. Mr. Chi Jianxin, Chief Executive Officer of the China Africa Development Fund presided over the inaugural signing ceremony for cooperation agreements with six large enterprises in Beijing.
6. The Opening Ceremony of the China-Africa Development Fund was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The Honorable Tang Jiaxuan, State Councillor, attended and presided over the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Also in attendance were Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai, Minister of Foreign Affairs Yang Jiechi, China Development Bank Vice Governor Yao ZhongMin, Eleih-Elle Etian Ambassador who is the head of the African Diplomatic Corps in China. Mr. Gao Jian personally hosted the ceremony.
7. Mr.Gao Jian and Mr .Chi Jianxin visited Republic of Congo, Ethiopia and Sudan.
8. The CADFund SA held a reception and presentation in Beijing to promote the fund to the African diplomatic corps stationed in China. In all, over  40 diplomatic envoys representing over 40 countries participated in this event
9. Mr. Chi Jianxin was invited to participate in the plenary meeting held by the China-Africa Cooperation Forum Implementation Committee.
10. Mr. Chi Jianxin published an article entitled "China-Africa Development Fund : The bridge to deepening China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation" in the first anniversary special issue of the Beijing China-Africa Cooperation Forum in International Commercial Daily.
11. The China-Africa Development Fund and Mr. Gao Jian presided over the inaugural welcome address for all staff.  
12. CADFund SA held the Initial Signing Ceremony of African Investment Agreement at the DiaoYuTai State Guesthouse.
13. Mr. Chi JianXin led a delegation to Egypt and participated in the meeting of the Chinese Economic and Commercial Counsellors in Western Asian and African countries. During the meeting, Mr. Chi Jianxin provided an introduction about the China-Africa Development Fund.
14. Mr. Hu Zhirong, Vice President, led a delegation to South Africa, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Mozambique and Ethiopia.
15. Mr. Gao Jian, accompanied by Mr. Chi Jianxin, led a delegation to Mauritius and Angola.
16. Mr. Chi Jianxin led a delegation to Ghana and Liberia. While in Ghana, Mr. Chi participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Ghana Power Plant.
17. the Ghana Power Plant, a joint-investment of Shenzhen Energy Investment Co.,Ltd. And CADFund SA, held its ribbon-cutting ceremony where President John Agyekum Kufuor and Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama presided over the ceremony.
18. Mr. Hu Zhirong visited Malawi with a Ministry of Commerce delegation, and South Africa as the representative of the Fund.
19. From May 22-25, 2008, Mr. Chi Jianxin participated and addressed in the China-Africa Enterprises Cooperation Forum in Macau.
20. Ethiopia Hansom International Glass Private Limited Company, a joint-investment of CGC Overseas Construction Limited and the CADFund SA began its pilot testing of the glass fabrication facility.
